The last time this motherboard will not have anything installed on it. Here we go.

The fastest processor in the world, the Intel i7 2600k. Over 4 billion processors in this thing and yet, so small. Time to put this in the motherboard.
The next one for this CPU for the next 3 years at least.

This is who the space for the CPU goes when you take out the plastic that is being held in the cradle.

And it goes in like so. There is only one way to put in a processor. Pay attention though because this part is very easy to mess up.

This is what helps this rig hum right along. RAM, lots of it, 16GB to be exact. This is a very easy installation. Again, this can only go in one way so you'd have to go out of your way to try to break this.

 Obviously, I didn't break it.

Where I am so far, which is to say, not far at all.

However, this is the rig sitting right side up. Looks a little bit better.

This is where you hook up the cords that comes inside the case, to that of the motherboard. Make sure to hook them up right because you don't want your computer being turned on and off with the reset button, etc.

Side shot of the ports the motherboard provides. Overkill personified.

This thing is a nice sized brick. I made the tactical decision to have the exhaust fan facing outward given my intended usage of the computer. I really didn't want all that hot air blowing directly on my graphics card and motherboard.

Two shots of the SSD drive. Remember, the SSD is only a 2.5 inch drive. Intel provides a bracket that will allow it to simulate the size of a 3.5 in drive to put in the drive chassis. This will be what my OS resides on.

3 Terabytes. That sounds so unreal, I need to type it twice. 3 TERABYTES! This is a lot of space.

Note that the processor's fan already comes with thermal paste which is a good thing because CPUs can overheat and I didn't want to apply any myself..

This is how it looks when the CPU fan is installed on the motherboard.

One of two disc based drives I'm getting. This is the Blu-Ray burner.
And this is where I am so far. The PC powers up and is very silent. I've taken this as far as its going to go. On Monday, with the graphics card installed, I'll be ready to fire this thing up and do some benchmarking and screen shotting. Until then.

Edit: Got the graphics card and sound card. Only thing missing is the other DVD drive. For all extents and purposes, everything is a go.

Pure comes out today

Racing game of the year comes out today in the form of Pure. It is going to be hot. I swear I need to update this more and more. I'll make a concerted effort to do this every day. I have a lot of hope for this game and I hope that others are picking this up today as well.

Banjo is going to come and he is going to conquer

This is going to be the best looking game when it comes out easily. We just need to know if it plays well. It looks like it does. Rare is in top form again.

PURE!!!! Next-Gen Splashdown

I know people just come across games that they hope and wish are just great. Anyways, Pure is one of these games for me. The game is utterly gorgeous and looks to be a blast. If you have played Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild for the PS2, you should see this as a spiritual successor. At least I do, because the same people are a part of both games. Seriously, this game is hot, check it out!

Microsoft prices two Rare games at $39.99

While it remains to see if this will stick, I have a feeling that it will. Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise are both $39.99 at Gamestop. I quickly went and preordered both. Rock Band 2 is also in there for the 360. I have the first one so all I need is the game disc. That is a done deal as well. I hope Microsoft leaves these prices here because Rare is my favorite gaming company and I want their games to sell bucketloads.

Rock Band 2

Today it was announced for the current systems. Time exclusive on the Xbox 360. This is great because I have a ton of DLC from RB1 that will work on RB2 and I have my RB1 on the Xbox 360. Sure, it's a moneyhat, but it is a moneyhat that will benefit me greatly. Awesome stuff right here.

June 27th check-in

Just knocked out some homework. Watched some Wimbledon today. Saw Serena win and Roger win. Going to go play some Top Spin 3 after I play some Trackmania United Forever, which is probably the best racing game I've ever played, sorry Forza 2 and F-Zero GX. Slow time now in gaming since E3 is around the corner. No clue what is going to be there since companies like Activision have backed out for their own stuff. I'm more interested in what Microsoft and Sony has to say anyways. Activision has become this Guitar Hero factory and Rock Band is currently better. NCAA Football should be next for me, I usually take a one star team and build them up. No clue on who that will be this game. Thats it for now, until tomorrow that is.

Top Spin 3, MGS4 and other tidbits

I need to stop being lazy. I got MGS4 beat it, not really satisfied. Metal Gear Solid 3 is the best game in the series by far. It is virtually perfect. Metal Gear Solid 4 is flawed as hell. I got back from Gamestop with Top Spin 3 for the 360 a few hours ago. Yet to put it in, but I'm sure I'll have fun with later. I'm going to make a real effort to update this everyday. I've made it my home page so I'll at least see it every day. I updated my current preorder lists and what is in my collection as well.

Ninja Gaiden 2 demo

I downloaded it from the Japanese 360 Marketplace. This demo is hot!
